The day has finally arrived–I'm off to Realm Makers 2018! This will be my second year at the conference, and I'm looking forward to getting together with fellow authors again for a time of learning (and fun, of course). If you're going as well, be sure to look me up! I will have a table where you can buy my most recent books, and I'll be happy to sign books for you as well. I'm always happy to meet my readers in person.
In preparation for the conference, I've made a few tweaks to my author platform, which I want to tell you about. I've had to take a hard look at all the projects I've got in the pipeline and made some decisions about what's lucrative and what isn't. I really enjoy creating all kinds of content, but I want to make a living at this. As such, I can't spread myself too thin.
For that reason, I've decided to retire the Fearless Fiction podcast for an indefinite period. It's been fun, and I'm glad people have gotten a lot out of it, but quite frankly, it's not providing me with any income. Also, I'd prefer to shift my platform entirely to fictional projects in future instead of nonfiction. The FF podcast will remain available for download, but there won't be any new episodes, at least not for the foreseeable future.
Also, as I've mentioned before, there have been some issues with my attempts to produce further audiobook adaptations of my novels. I did have a potential idea in the works for continuing the audios (the “Project Avocado” I teased on Twitter a while back), but ultimately, I decided it would be too time-consuming with not enough returns. For now, I'm putting all audio-related stuff on hold. This is another area in which I'm not making a lot of income, at least not in comparison to what I make from written media. Plus, roughly half of my current readers don't seem to be as interested in audio as they are in books–which is totally fine; just a facet of my target audience that I need to take into account.
Now for a more positive announcement. Later today, I'll be unveiling the mysterious Project Kumquat and Project Eggplant, which I've been teasing for a long time now. This should (roughly) coincide with the reveals of these projects in the conference literature at Realm Makers. I am really, really excited about this news–can't wait to share it with you, but I didn't want to lump everything together into one post.
So that's it for now! Don't forget to join me again later today to discover what the future holds for the Afterverse!
