The Afterverse Relaunch: The Future of Beaumont and Beasley

It's time to dive into all the news and announcements about the Afterverse Relaunch! Since there's a lot to share, I'm not going to try to get it all into one post. The handy graphic above will sum up all the salient points of information for you, though, and I'll unpack it all in detail in multiple posts over the next several days. The relaunch officially begins on Halloween, so mark your calendars! (Actually, I guess they're already marked for Halloween, so never mind. Unless you want to cross out what's already there and write “Afterween” or something.)

In today's post, I want to focus on the graphics-related updates that will come with the relaunch, as well as the future of the Beaumont and Beasley series. My site is currently under construction, so not all the relaunch news will be reflected in the links and book pages. Click buttons at your own risk. If you end up in some kind of dimensional void, I will try to inform your next of kin.

First off, the color scheme around here is somewhat different, though not by a lot, and I've changed my logo and tagline as well. In the near future, I'll be devoting an entire post to discussing the new tagline and my philosophy behind it.

Next up, we have new covers for all the books I've already published. Some of them have only changed a little, others more drastically. I wasn't really displeased with any of the original versions of the covers, but a few of them needed tweaks to make them look better as thumbnails and to improve their branding. I've also added a new logo for Beaumont and Beasley with different fonts, and made the font for my name consistent across all my series. You can check out all these covers in the gallery below.

Now…what about Book 4? What on earth is The Return of Beaumont and Beasley Have I changed my mind on future books AGAIN???

No, not exactly. Calm down. Here's the thing. Book 4 was originally supposed to be a “miniseries” of six novellas called The Strange Cases of Beaumont and Beasley. The trouble was, the individual novellas ended up being too long to all fit nicely into a book of reasonable size, and the separate releases of each one outside the usual numbering of Beaumont and Beasley confused people. So I've hit on a new plan which I believe will make things a lot simpler.

The Return of Beaumont and Beasley is the two Strange Cases novellas I've already released this year, relaunched as a single volume. The separate versions of The Janus Elixir and The Hound of Duville will soon be removed from sale, and Return will be released on the 31st. This is Book 4, not any other weird complicated in-between thing. The rest of the novellas will follow suit in two more “double feature” books.

Book 5 will be called The Strange Cases of Beaumont and Beasley, and will include the novellas The Geppetto Codex and The Hare and the Hatter. I plan to publish this book in December, barring any unforeseen delays. I'll provide a more exact release date sometime after the relaunch.

Book 6 will be called The Fall of Beaumont and Beasley (and yes, that should worry you). It will include the novellas The Unsinkable Molly Brown and Schism. I'm tentatively planning to release this in time for the Second Afterversary on January 17, but I don't know yet whether that will be possible. We'll see.

One more thing for now—due to scheduling issues, I haven't been able to organize a blog tour for the relaunch. That's not really a big deal to me, as I'm not emphasizing that aspect of the launch very heavily this time around. However, if you have a blog and you are interested in featuring me and/or my books in any way over the next couple of weeks, feel free to get in touch. The best way is to email me at hello@kylerobertshultz.com or send me a direct message on Twitter or Facebook. I'll be happy to provide you with a link to a Google Drive folder with various resources you can use for a blog post and social media posts, and I am also available for author interviews.

Tomorrow, I'll reveal more about my new free short stories for my newsletter subscribers, and then on Tuesday, I'll wrap up the relaunch news by explaining my new tagline. Thanks for reading, and Happy Afterween! 😀

*marks Afterween on calendar*

I composed my post earlier today. I sent you an email about it.

That’s very kind of you, Daley, thank you! I appreciate it!

The tweaked covers look really great! I’m looking forward to The Return of Beaumont and Beasley (and dreading The Fall of Beaumont and Beasley 😀 )

Thanks so much! And yes, I’m rather dreading that one myself…though not enough to avoid publishing it. XD

Afterween! I love it so much. XD

This all sounds like very solid plans to me! I like the idea of the novellas being put together in volumes two at a time. I think that’ll make them all fit in nice sizes. And the new look for everything is fantastic!

There’s free short stories coming??? EEEEE!!! YAY. I’ve been missing the Afterverse something desperate. Can’t wait to hear about it. I can’t wait for ALL the things. (Except The Fall of Beaumont and Beasley scares me to death. *whimpers*)

Thank you! I’m really glad you like the 2-at-a-time idea, and the designs. I’m happy with how they turned out. I think they’re a little more eye-catching this way.

Everyone seems to be scared about “Fall”…and with good reason, I assure you. Hee hee hee. XD

[…] can read all the details on Kyle’s site! Or, specifically, in two posts so far, HERE and HERE. And all of these updates should go into effect October 31st. […]
