Big Fat Update Post: The Relaunch, Antiheroes, and NaNoWriMo

Buckle your seat-belts, people. It's time to go over the aftermath of the Afterverse Relaunch, and to look ahead to the future as well. So wake up and pay attention.

Yes, you. I'm talking to you back there, the one who's nodding off. This is no time for you to go into a sugar coma from all that Halloween candy. Snap out of it.

*unfurls cartoonishly long list*

Relaunched Books

All the updated versions of the currently available Afterverse books are now live on Amazon, and available through Kindle Unlimited. This is the perfect time for you to get caught up on my stories, if you're not already. To make things easier for you in this regard, I've released a boxset of Books 1 to 3 as well. (Ebook only, sorry.) This set will take up a single slot in your Kindle Unlimited borrows, so you don't need to make the agonizing decision to return some of your precious unread books in order to make room for mine.

The updated versions include Book 4, The Return of Beaumont and Beasley, which collects the previously-published The Janus Elixir and The Hound of Duville into one volume. Quick shout-out to those who may have already read these two stories: would you do me a favor and combine your reviews for them so you can post them on Amazon and Goodreads for Return? I would really appreciate it. Reviews of the boxset would also be extremely helpful.

New Epilogue

In The Return of Beaumont and Beasley, I've added a new epilogue to The Hound of Duville which ties the events of that story into the plot of The Janus Elixir. The connection was always planned, but I'd originally intended to reveal it later. Now that these two novellas are combined into a single volume, I think it's best that this scene be part of that book. However, this leaves out the people who bought them separately, so I want to make sure that you still have access to it. This epilogue is very short, around 1,000 words, so I've opted not to distribute it through BookFunnel the way I usually do with free stuff. Instead, it's a PDF on Google Drive, which you can access at this link. SPOILER WARNING: Don't read it unless you've read both The Janus Elixir and The Hound of Duville!

New Short Stories

The new free stories for my email newsletter subscribers are now live, and I've created Goodreads pages for each of them as well (links below). Enjoy them, and if you could post reviews once you're finished, that would be awesome. Thank you!

A Spoonful of Aether

The Centaur Express

The Haunted Hoard

Website Updates

I've aggressively streamlined this site to make my online platform a little easier for me to maintain and for visitors to navigate. I decided to do away with individual pages for my books and my series. Instead, all the books are now listed on one page, and the links go straight to Amazon.

My Patreon page is now live, and the Crockett and Crane Halloween story “Ravenous” is available for download there (even for non-patrons). I have a lot of exciting content planned for this platform, which I'll be doing an entire blog post on in the not-too-distant future.

BTW, here's the Goodreads page for “Ravenous”.

Doctor Who Reviews

These have been getting some decent traffic for my site, so I'm going to keep doing them. I haven't had a chance to watch or review Series 11 Episode 4 yet, but I will be doing that in the next few days. I may just post reviews for Eps 4 and 5 simultaneously on Monday, depending on how my schedule pans out.

Antiheroes Anthology

The Phoenix Fiction Writers group, of which I am a member, is releasing a new anthology of short stories on November 17. It's centered around the theme of antiheroes. My entry, “The Wolf at the Door”, is a bit of a departure for me–somewhat darker than my usual fare. I'm happy with how it turned out, though, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. It may or may not set up certain significant events in the distant future of the Afterverse.

NaNoWriMo 2018

Yes, wonder of wonders, I am actually participating in NaNoWriMo this year! I really wasn't planning on it, but I have to get a book done this month anyway, so I figured, why not? It'll be fun. The project I've chosen is Blackfire Book 1, The Thirteenth Knight. I had a tiny fragment of a draft for this one already, but since then, I changed my mind about how I wanted to tell the story, so I decided to start again from scratch. If all goes well, the book should be published sometime in early 2019. That said, I'm not putting any real pressure on myself for NaNo. I just want to have fun with it. If I don't make it to 50K before the end of the month, it won't be a big deal to me. If you'd like to buddy up with me on nanowrimo.org, go right ahead!

I will be releasing a short Christmas story for email subscribers this year, as well as a unique winter-themed story for my Patreon backers. The email freebie will blow the minds of my regular fans, and the Patreon story will adapt aspects of a certain animated film. (I doubt very much that you'll be able to guess which one, though you're welcome to try.) More details about these stories will be released soon, though before that, I'll be unveiling the cover and synopsis of my November Patreon story.

My current plans extend well into 2019. I'm being a little more circumspect about how much info I reveal in advance these days, though, so I probably won't talk much about the new year until sometime in December. Rest assured, however, that there is no end in sight to the Afterverse. (So long as a certain White Rabbit doesn't accidentally blow it up with a time paradox, of course.)

In closing, I want to say a very heartfelt thank-you to everyone who's blogged, shared, commented, liked, laughed, cheered, read, reviewed, and patiently waited for more as I've built my business to the stage it's at today. Your support is invaluable to me, and I don't take it for granted.

You may return to your candy now. But first… *steals a handful of your candy corn* What? It's writer fuel.

Ha! I don’t have any candy corn to steal!

I did attempt to make November cakes, and while they didn’t turn out according to the recipe (baking and my Executive Function are NOT friends), they still are pretty good. Virtual those I’ll give away. Writer’s fuel, you know.

So glad to hear everything’s working on this! Eventually I shall get around to things like the new stories. My own plate is rather full lately, and there are just not enough hours in the day. Note to self about combining the reviews, though; I’ll see what I can do on that front.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate it! And I will certainly accept your virtual November cakes. 😀

Sounds great!
Except that epilogue! What have you dome, sir?
*wails in despair*
Can’t wait to see how everything comes together.
*steals back candy corn* You can have it back when you’ve learned to play nicely with your characters.

HA HA!!! Well, I suppose I deserve that. XD

Yayayayayay!!! So many exciting things! Congrats on all the relaunch stuff and I can’t wait for more Afterverse! ^_^

Thank you!! 😀
