Just a reminder: the universe doesn't know what day of the year it is. Primarily because the universe is not sentient and therefore doesn't know anything.
In the big scheme of things, today is just another Friday. What you make of this Friday, and all the days after it, is up to you. There's nothing mystical about a new year. You have the final responsibility to accomplish your goals, to hold your loved ones close, to stand up for truth and freedom, and to draw nearer to God.
All righty, mini-sermon over.
This is going to be a short post, because I'm not making any grandiose predictions whatsoever. Last year was complicated for me, and it would have been complicated anyway regardless of global events. However, if I were to describe it as a “bad” year for me personally, it would be dishonest and ungrateful of me. No, I didn't accomplish everything I set out to do at the beginning of last year, but a lot of positive things still happened. I'm not in a crisis of any kind; I'm actually in a very good place right now.
Everything I had on my publishing schedule before is still happening, it's just been delayed. I can't provide any timeframes for when anything is going to happen this year, simply because I don't know. I've been quiet for a long time because I've been making plans for how to move forward with the Afterverse in a way that both satisfies my readers and keeps things sustainable for me. There will be no major changes to or cancellations of any books I was working on last year. However, there will be some new additions, which I'll reveal more about later this year, and I'll be streamlining my platform in various ways.
For the moment, things are going to get quiet again for a while. I need a few months to focus solely on getting more books ready for publication. After that, I will likely be relaunching my entire platform, which will take quite a bit of preparation. I don't want to keep popping in and out of social media and making vague comments about when I think something will be published, because that's just frustrating for my followers. I would rather wait and announce things when they're actually ready than to build up a lot of hype around a release date in advance. So the next time you get a significant announcement from me, it will be about a book release actually happening, not one planned for the future.
In the meantime, there are some side projects I can talk about. I'm bringing back my Chironicles webcomic later this year. It was a lot of fun to work on, and whether or not it ends up being profitable, it's just something I'd like to do again. Plus, I've found a unique art style for it which is both visually appealing and easy for me to produce, so I will be able to work on the comic without having to sideline my writing projects. Here's a piece of concept art for the new version:
Also, I've relaunched the website for Confident Creations, the author services business which I run with my mom, Nicole Shultz. We offer a variety of affordable resources for authors, including editing (done by my mom) and graphic design/book formatting (done by me). Plus, I've added a new premade covers store to the website with thirty different cover designs, which I'll be adding to on a regular basis. If you're planning to release a book this year, we can help you get it ready for publication. Visit our website to learn more. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates on new designs and promotional events.
As always, thank you for your patience. I truly appreciate your enthusiasm for everything I've written, and I look forward to bringing you more stories soon.
Happy Friday (and Happy New Year),
